Two-level supply chain quality improvement through a wholesale price coordination contract on pricing, quality and services
Authors
Abstract:
Nowadays, competitive market creates the necessity of quality improvement in different levels of supply chains (SCs). This paper contributes to the SC coordination literature and proposes a bilateral coordination contract for optimizing pricing decisions along with quality improvement decisions in different echelons of a real case of a cell phone SC. The SC comprises a manufacturer who deals with determining the product quality, and a retailer who seeks for the optimal strategy on price, after-sale service and service level in a periodic review inventory system. The proposed bilateral wholesale price (BWP) contract is shown to be capable of simultaneous coordination of these decisions. The sensitivity analysis showed that in a market which is sensitive to quality and after-sale service as well as the product price, the proposed model facilitates investing more in such quality improvements while the members’ profitability with respect to the case without contracts is guaranteed. Moreover, it can increase the SC service level since it enables the members to hold more safety stock even under high inventory costs. Overall, the proposed coordination model on pricing, product quality, after-sale service and service level, leads to the optimal performance of the SC and its members while it is beneficial for the customers.

Coordination and profit sharing in a two-level supply chain under periodic review inventory policy with delay in payments contract
In this paper,a coordination model has been investigated for a two-level supply chain (SC) consisting of one retailer and one supplier under periodic review inventory system. The review period and the retailer’s safety factorare assumed to be decision variables. The retailer faces stochastic demand following a normal distribution with known mean and variance. Moreover, it is assumed that unmet ...
full textCoordination of pricing and cooperative advertising for perishable products in a two-echelon supply chain: A bi-level programming approach
In this article the coordination of pricing and cooperative advertising decisions in one-manufacturer one-retailer decentralized supply chain with different market power for channel members is studied. The products are both perishable and substitutable. The problem is modeled as a nonlinear bi-level programming problem to consider both retailer and manufacturer decisions about prices and advert...

The paper establishes a fairness preference framework based on game theory of Nash bargaining, and builds a utility system about fairness preference. On the basis, we expeands the newboy model to behavior research. The analysis shows that because of the retailer and suppliers’ fairness preference, their optimal order quantities tend to became conservative, and the result shows that the greater ...
full textCoordination in Two Level Supply Chain with Price Dependent Demand
In the present day scenario of industrial competition, supply chain management seeks to synchronize a firm’s processes and those of its suppliers to match the flow of materials, services and information with customer demand. It involves the coordination of key processes in the firm such as order placement, order fulfillment and purchasing which are supported by marketing, finance, engineering, ...
full textA Two Stage Supply Chain Model with Selling Price Dependent Demand and Investment for Quality Improvement
This paper presents the problem of a vendor-buyer integrated production inventory model for two stage supply chain under investment for quality improvement. The buyer faces as a linear demand, which is assumed to be function of its unit selling price. Total profit is the supply chain performance measure and it is computed as the difference between revenue from sales and total cost, where the la...
full textA game theoretical approach for pricing in a two-level supply chain considering advertising and servicing
This paper considers the advertising, pricing, and service decisions simultaneously to coordinate the supply chain with a manufacturer and a retailer. The amount of market demand is influenced by advertising, pricing and service decisions. In this paper, three well-known approaches to the game theory, including the Nash, the Stackelberg-retailer, and the cooperative game are exploited to study ...
